Certainly worth a stop.

You sleep in a unique castle outside of the village. An ancient fortified country house from the 16th and 17th century. All 5 rooms are spacious, some with terrace and all with great character. Today is a ride back to medieval times. You cycle from one medieval village to the next on small roads through rolling fields and pine trees. This landscape looks a lot like Tuscany.

One of the highlight of this day is the fairy tale village Peratallada. It is built completely on rocks. Think of narrow, cobbled streets in a medieval, fortified village. Small, hidden restaurants where you imagine yourself in the French Provence. Peratallada is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain and will not disappoint you.

Neither will your hotel today. A 4 star castle on a hill overlooking a wonderful countryside with olive trees and oak. This hotel combines the magic a 1000 year old castle has to offer together with modern-day design and comfort. You can relax in the swimming pools and enjoy delicious gastronomy in the restaurant or bar.

Optional:

- massages / beauty treatments at the hotel

- if you want to push yourself more with the bike, climb to Els Angels, a monastery on a mountain top with a beautiful view of the region.

You’ll follow the Ter river for a while and cycle north through a varied rough and rolling landscape. Day 6: Panoramics over the peninsula of Cap de Creus

35 km 1130 m 1046 m

Your 5th cycle day leads you through the mountains, with a view of the Bay of Roses, which has been declared a world heritage site.

Here you can enjoy phenomenal nature that is now accessible to everyone thanks to our electric bicycles.

You start your climb in Villajuiga and follow the winding road towards the Sant Pere de Rodes Monumental Complex of the 9th century. The complex is made up of Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery, the old town of Santa Creu and the ruins of Verdera castle on the top. From there you have an extraordinary view of the Cap de Creus peninsula and the Mediterranean Sea on both sides.

Tonight you sleep in Cadaques, a fishing town that looks like a postcard. This is the village where Salvador Dali lived and worked. Your hotel is in a secluded bay at the beach, next to the world famous house of the artist. An extra day in this seaside town is an option, as there is a lot to see.

Those who want to make some extra kilometers can bike to the lighthouse of Cap de Creus, the most eastern point of the Pyrenees. Here it becomes clear where the name "Costa Brava" or "wild coast" comes from. You drive through a rough, moonlike landscape with whimsical rock formations. Catalonia is a surprisingly varied region in the North of Spain. It is unique because of its natural beauty, cultural sites and strategic location between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees.

Our cycling routes are located in the North of Catalonia, just across the French border. This is the most unspoilt part of the Costa Brava! You cycle or walk along desolate beaches and various nature reserves such as the Cap de Creus peninsula, the Montgri mountain range, the Isles Medes Marine Reserve and the Aguamolls Bird Sanctuary.

This region can be proud of its rich cultural heritage. The southern part is called the 'The Golden Triangle' for a reason. Ancient medieval villages, archaeological sites and museums take you back to ancient times. In the evening you stay in historic castles or haciendas that immerse you in authentic Catalonia.

3 stars Restaurant El Bulli also put this region on the Burgundian world map. The restaurant is closed, but several chefs now have their own restaurant where you can enjoy star-class tapas. And for the city trippers among you, vibrant Barcelona is only an hour and a half away by car.

This region has it all and the best way to discover this diversity, is through our vacations!
